Windows 7 Animated Desktop Wallpaper

Vista allows you to setup animated desktop wallpaper. The wallpapers are called “dreams”, the technology behind it “Windows DreamScene”.

Windows 7 no longer supports animated desktop wallpaper, but we have found a solution to make them work on your system anyway.

First of all make sure that “Aero” is turned on on your system.

After that download Windows 7 DreamScene

Installing Windows 7 DreamScene

After downloading the file, run it with admin privileges. To do that you would have to right-click and select “Run As Administrator”.

The file will copy DreamScene.dll to  your Windows\System32 folder, DreamScene.dll.mui to Windows\System32\en-US folder and it will also add the  registry keys and values that are needed in order to run DreamScene on Windows 7.

Right-click on a Windows 7 Dream and “Set as desktop background”:
